CALIFORNIA — If there is any question about why candidates are trying to dodge their anti-abortion record, the answer is simple — they know that voters want nothing to do with it. The polling speaks for itself:
Abortion is now the top issue for women under 30 this election, surpassing inflation: A new survey shows that abortion has become the top issue in November’s presidential election among female voters under 30. The survey found that “[a]bout 2 in 5 young voters said abortion was their top concern, compared to 1 in 5 respondents in the same survey” from this past spring when inflation was identified as their top concern.
Statement from Jennifer Wonnacott, Chief External Affairs Officer, Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California:
“Voters want true reproductive rights champions in office, not politicians like House Republicans in California who could push the Project 2025 agenda and have tried to hide their anti-abortion records. They have and always will attack our health care. These anti-abortion rights politicians are desperate to distract voters from their records, but voters see straight through them. Some House Republican candidates in California have supported the overturning of Roe, voted to criminalize doctors and have even cosponsored a national abortion ban. Californians who care about abortion rights and access won’t trust them with their votes in November.”
